A neutral wardrobe already has most of what cobalt blue needs. The white trousers, tan bag and black skirt you reach for every week can make a strong blue piece feel easy to wear.
The useful question is where you want the color to sit. A T-shirt puts it near your face; a bag or shoe makes it a smaller detail. Neither requires a matching set.
Keep the familiar pieces
Who What Wear's cobalt-blue T-shirt feature shows blue paired with khaki trousers, a leather skirt and white trousers. Those photographed combinations offer something more useful than a prediction about the next big color: examples you can adapt with clothes you already own.
Try a blue tee with your usual trousers first. If the outfit feels busy, simplify the shoes or bag before abandoning the color. Fit still matters; a shade you like cannot rescue a cut you never feel comfortable wearing.
Choose one point of emphasis
A cobalt bag or shoe gives you a smaller dose of the color. Shape, fabric and the amount of blue will change the effect.
There is no need to buy another item to complete the look. Take a photo in daylight and ask whether the blue adds something you enjoy. Keep the pieces that do.
Where would you start with cobalt: a T-shirt, a bag or shoes?
